TREK ANNOUNCES NEW POWERFLY ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN BIKES

Trek has updated their Powerfly line with fully integrated Bosch PowerTube batteries to better protect batteries and improve the overall look of the bikes. The PowerTube battery integration shields the battery from water and dirt, but still makes it possible to do a battery swap if that’s desired. Trek is calling this their Removable Integrated Battery (RIB) system.

All of the bikes still use the Bosch Performance Line CX motor.

They’re setting up three lines; Hardtail, full suspension (130mm) and long-travel (150mm). There are men’s and women’s sizes, the latter having also narrower bars and female-specific saddle, and have curved top tubes for lower standover height. They are offered in alternate color options.

The 130mm travel bikes are aimed at comfort and efficiency for great handling and cornering, whereas the Long Travel versions are geared toward more experienced riders on more challenging terrain.

The $2700 Powerfly Sport hardtail comes outfitted with fenders, rack, a kickstand and lights for those who want an e-mtb setup as a commuter for all-weather use.

Specs have been bumped throughout the line, with beefier forks, 4-piston brakes and tougher tires. There’s also OCLV Mountain Carbon models in the long-travel line. Pricing starts at $2500 for the lower-spec’d hardtails and goes up to $8000 for the Carbon Long Travel model.

The 130mm full suspension (FS) bikes and 150mm long travel (LT) bikes can accept up to 27.5×2.8” tires. The 17.5” and larger size hardtail models can accept up to 29×2.4” or 27.5×2.8” tires. The 15.5” and smaller hardtails will not fit 29” tires, but can accommodate 27.5×2.8” tires.

Most of the bikes are available at Trek retailers now, but the carbon long-travel models are expected to arrive in August.

We expect these 2019 MY Powerfly bikes will be available as part of Mammoth’s fleet of e-MTBs as they open their park this season.
