Today’s New Products
PEARL IZUMI X-PROJECT P.R.O. SHOES
Light, stiff kicks
Last year we tested a pair of X-Alp shoes from Pearl Izumi, and our test riders were more than pleased with their performance. The X-Project is a higher-end shoe from Pearl Izumi focused on cross-country and trail riding. The X-Project uses a carbon composite sole and advanced, three-layer, seamless composite upper for maximum stiffness and comfort. These shoes use a double BOA with 1-millimeter adjustments to help dial in the fit. Pearl offers the X-Projects in two colors for $350 per pair. Check out www.pearlizumi.com or your local shop to order a pair.
MUC-OFF SHOWER SCRUB
Cleaner than your bike
Muc-Off bike products are popular items around the Electric Bike Action world headquarters, especially when it comes to washing our test bikes. Muc-Off offers a shower scrub to help riders get sparkly clean, even after the dirtiest rides. This gel comes in a 200mL bottle and uses a special formula that won’t hurt your skin while giving it a deep clean. Sadly this scrub is only available in the UK, but maybe they’ll help make America clean again. muc-off.com
TRSR 9-46 CASSETTE
Go big
Wider-range cassettes are all the rage on the trail, and E*thirteen has been adding some quality options to the mix. E*thirteen has previously offered cassettes with 42 and 44 climbing gears, but now offers an even bigger 9-46. The TRSr is an aluminum and chromoly combination that seeks to balance reduced weight and strength and mounts to an XD driver body. E*thirteen has the retail price set at $350, and the cassette can be found at www.bythehive.com or at your local shop.
MUCKY NUTZ RACE FENDER
Stay clean out there
Minimalist fenders have grown in popularity over the last couple years. Riders love the look—and not having mud thrown in their faces. Mucky Nutz is a fender company based out of the UK that produces a broad range of fenders. The Race fender is a more traditional take that zip-ties to the fork bridge and lowers. These fenders retail for about $10 and can be found online at www.muckynutz.com.
