The Ink Freeride By Cake

CAKE INK FREERIDE

Cake has announced its latest model, the Ink Freeride. It’s based on the same technology as their OR, but boasts a 50-mph top speed and a trail range of up to 3 hours. If it’s anything like the Kalk OR we rode last year (EBA, April 2019), that three-hour time is on the conservative side.

The In is powered by an 11-kW motor powered by a 51.8-volt, 50-Ah battery with three ride modes:

1. Explore: The ultimate mode during exploration. Limited speed to 45 km/h and 3–4+ hour battery range

2. Excite: Enduro or active trail riding. 1–2-hour riding time

3. Excel: Track and race mode, maximal torque and speed, riding time up to 1 hour.

Cake Ink differentiates itself from the Kalk OR and Kalk& by utilizing a non-linkage rear suspension for simplicity and lightweight motocross-style front fork, a sturdy 19-inch wheelset for added durability and less maintenance, and fenders and bodywork that are made with injection-molded polycarbonate and ABS. The Cake Ink retails for $9,500 and will be available direct to consumers and select dealer partners worldwide.
