Specialized Battery Charge Limiter – Mission Control 3
Less charge more life...
Specialized Bicycles have updated their e-bike software to increase battery life of their Turbo system.
The Turbo System software update includes a new feature called Charge Limit, which limits battery charging to 80%. This feature is designed to help improve the long-term health and longevity of the battery.
The Charge Limit feature can be enabled in Mission Control, but to do so, your bike may require a full system update, which includes a battery and display update. This update must be performed by an authorized Specialized retailer, and there may be a charge for this service.
Specialized says that by keeping the battery charged between 20% and 80%, you can maximize battery health and longevity. This range is also the sweet spot for many daily commuters, who according to the data Specialized have, tend to use about 50% of the battery charge per day. By limiting charging to 80%, you should have enough battery life to safely complete your daily commute.
If you’re not planning to ride your Turbo for 3-4 weeks, you can turn on the Charge Limit feature and leave it parked worry-free. This will help ensure that the battery remains in good condition while the bike is not in use.
To take advantage of the Charge Limit feature, you’ll need to have the latest firmware installed on your bike (version 3.11.0 or later). If you’re unsure whether your bike is up-to-date or if you need to schedule a system update, contact your authorized Specialized retailer.
