Specialized announces a new Kenevo SL
Specialized offers the next generation of Kenevo Super Light
Specialized already announced two wallet-bending Turbo Levo models this year, and they’re somewhat continuing the trend with the Kenevo Super Light. The SL version weighs in at 5.5 kg lighter than the full-power version. You basically can’t easily tell that it’s an e-bike by looking at it, save for the display on the top tube.
The Mastermind Turbo Control Unit is the brain of the Kenevo. It’s the hardware and software that gives you at-a-glance information, as well as connecting to your phone using the Mission Control app for advance tuning, diagnostics, over-the-air updates and more. You can microtune the peak power and support levels in 10% increments.
The following is a rundown of the out-of-the-box functionality:

The motor puts out 240W and offers 35Nm of torque, and a 320Wh battery integrated into the down tube. There’s an optional 160Wh range extender battery that Specialized claims can give you up to 7 hours of ride time.
The bike is highly adjustable, offering bottom bracket height adjustments and head angle adjustments.Head angle can be set at 62.5, 63.5, or 64.5-degrees. Bottom bracket height can be fine-tuned up or down by 6mm.
Suspension offers 170mm of travel, with what they claim is improved in chassis stiffness, kinematics, leverage rates, spring curves, damping performance, and tunability. Borrowed much from the pedal bike Enduro, many of these improvements make for better small bump sensitivity, good intermediate bump force management, and bottom-out resistance.
The long and the short of it is that they designed the suspension to be plush and forgiving to let you go about the experience of riding.
Sizes are made to fit anyone from 5’2″ to 6’4″, and Specialized has a sizing guide on their website to help you choose the right fit.
There are currently three ways to buy the Kenevo SL. It’s offered as the S-Works frameset for $8500, The Expert for $11,000 and the Kenevo SL S-Works full bike for $15,000. That’s going to take more than a couple of stimulus checks to afford.
The frameset is full carbon, includes a Fox FLOAT X2 Factory rear shock, as well as the motor/battery/battery system.
The Expert has Fox FLOAT Factory suspension, SRAM X01 drivetrain, SRAM Code RS 4-piston brakes (220mm rotor in front, 200mm rear), a Butcher 29×2.6″ front tire, Eliminator 29×2.6″ rear, X-Fusion Manic dropper post, and even comes with their SWAT CC integrated tool and chain tool with a spare link stored in the steerer tube.
The S-Works full bike steps it up with Kashima coat on the Fox FLOAT Factory suspension, SRAM Eagle AXS drivetrain, the same brakes, same tires, a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper, and the same SWAT CC tool.
