SOME OF WHAT WE’VE SEEN AT EUROBIKE SO FAR

The e-world progresses, and Eurobike, the massive bike show in Frankfurt, Germany, shows off the latest and greatest in the bicycle world, including more and more electric bicycles.

NICOLAI EBOXX ULTRA

Let’s start off with the extreme. This beast is the Nicolai EBOXX Ultra, claiming to close the gap between e-MTB and e-moto, sporting a 6,000W mid-drive, 200mm EXT UB1 suspension front and rear, and a 2000Wh battery, all running a Gates Carbon Drive belt. This beast will set you back €12,999 with pedals and a Pinion 9-speed gearbox, €11,499 with just footpegs, and an unlimited MX version with footpegs for €9,999.

VAAST

Vaast is here showing off their E/1, a truly unique design, with nearly hidden rear suspension, and the battery integrated as part of the seat tube. This shows that with e-bikes, no company needs to start with a traditional bicycle design, Vaast has produced something unique, with 100mm of R3act suspension by NAILD.

They’re powered by a Bosch Performance Line motor that will propel it up to 28 mph (Class 3), and the heavy duty racks can handle up to 45 lbs of payload.  There is integrated lighting from Supernova, and 4-piston Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and Schwalbe Supermoto Reflex tires.

You can get one with one of three drivetrains. A traditional Shimano XT/SLX, an Enviolo CVP or a Rohloff 14-speed. The latter two come with a Gates Carbon Drive belt system.

Price starts at $7499 depending on options.
