Royal Enfield Electric Photon Motorcycle

ROYAL ENFIELD ELECTRIC PHOTON MOTORCYCLE

In an ironic twist, the fabled British motorcycle Royal Enfield, now headquartered in India as Indian motorcycle manufacturer, has just showed off their first electric motorcycle. The twist? Interestingly, the bike wasn’t made by Royal Enfield but by English company Electric Classic Cars. The Photon was based on the classic Royal Enfield Bullet 500, before the air-cooled four-stroke engine, and replaced it with a 13-kW water-cooled electric motor mounted directly in the rear hub, eliminating a chain or belt. The claimed performance is a top speed of over 70 mph and a range of 80–100 miles at 50–60 mph. It costs $20,000.
