MUGEN E.REX: HONDA’S E-MONSTER

The Honda E.Rex has some serious teeth

Don’t get distracted by the Mugen electric-powered motocross bike’s looks. Its dinosaur motif is just to attract attention on the motorcycle show circuit. The technology of the electric motor has been proven at the Isle of Man. Consider the Mugen E.Rex a precursor to a future Honda electric motocross bike.

What are the radiators for? To cool the battery pack.

Designed to attract attention and not to be admired for its looks, the Mugen E.Rex was shown at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show with some high-tech electric trickery including water-cooled battery packs. Mugen knows a lot about electric motorcycles having won the Isle of Man TT Zero electric road race three straight times with its Shinden road bike.
Mugen, owned by Hiro Honda, the son of Honda founder Soichiro Honda, is often used as a developer of new ideas for Honda. Honda, along with every motorcycle manufacturer, will be introducing all electric bikes in the future-the immediate future. Let’s hope they don’t all look like the E.Rex. www.mugen-power.com
