Magura’s New eStop Brakes are Optimized for e-Bikes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Magura’s New eStop; Optimized eBike Technology
Maximum Performance and Safety with eStop Components

The gentle pedaling support offered by eBikes brings a smile to riders’ faces. However, the increased mass and higher speeds pose new challenges for rider and material. To meet the special requirements of today’s eBikes, Magura will introduce the new specifically-optimized eSTOP components at Eurobike this year.

eSTOP BRAKE MODELS
Magura presents two new disc brake models that have been specifically adapted for eBikes. The MT5 eSTOP, four-piston, and MT4 eSTOP, two-piston, are entirely optimized for eBikes. Combined with the new SPORT pads and MDR-C and MDR-P brake rotors the new brake models offer increased braking power and stability for the added forces and weight of eBikes. Available Autumn 2019.

Magura also offers eSTOP Optimized Kits to upgrade MAGURA MT models for use on eBikes. The kits consist of SPORT brake pads, and MDR-P or MDR-C rotors.

eSTOP ROTORS & PADS
Optimized for use on eBikes, Magura offers two new brake rotors which provide enhanced performance, stability, and reduced vibration.

The new MDR-C rotor [above left], available in 180-203mm sizes, is the all-round workhorse in the Magura eBike Optimized portfolio. An additional rigid element surrounding the 6-hole mounting reduces vibration during braking, resulting in less noise. Heat resistance and stability have also been enhanced. The MDR-P [above right] is a rotor for performance-oriented riders and tougher braking tasks ranging from downhill to eBikes and heavy cargo bikes. The MDR-P two-piece rotor also saves weight and is available in 203mm and for the first time, 220mm. With the same lever pull effort, the new rotor diameter offers 10% more braking force. A special feature of the two-piece rotor is the patented interlocking of the outer and inner rings (Dovetail Interlink Technology) which provides additional support for the inner ring if the outer ring expands due to heat. In contrast to floating discs, the torque is transmitted over the entire surface instead of just at the rivets. The result is increased rigidity of the brake rotor and heat dissipation that is much more effective under continuous load – perfect for MTB Gravity use. The new technology makes the MDR-P the most powerful rotor in the Magura portfolio.

MDR-C: 162 g (180 mm), 222 g (203 mm) – Available Now.
MDR-P: 216 g (203 mm), 241 g (220 mm) – Available Autumn 2019.

The new organic SPORT brake pads are suitable for everyday and sports biking – and especially for use on eBikes. The new pads are positioned in Magura’s brake pad line between the COMFORT and PERFORMANCE pads in terms of braking performance and durability. The new brake pad mixture is optimally adapted to the requirements of eBikes and the eSTOP brake models. Thanks to the break-in time, the new SPORT pads are also ready for use very quickly. Available Autumn 2019.
