Harley-Davidson’s New Balance Bikes
Harley-Davidson’s New Balance Bikes
Trying to stave off the naturally depleting customer base of their aging user group, Harley-Davidson is now setting their sights on the younger generation. The company acquired StaCyc Inc., makers of children’s balance bikes with a built-in motor that uses an electric drill motor and battery. The StaCyc has quick-charge capabilities that allow kids to ride for hours on end by swapping batteries. The bikes come in two sizes—small with 12-inch wheels and large with 16-inch wheels—to fit a wide variety of kids ages 3 and up, and up to 75 pounds.
This seems like a smart move, as it introduces kids to the brand, which may lead to some brand loyalty. The bikes will have H-D graphics and be available in participating Harley-Davidson dealers for around $650–$700.
