Greg Lemond’s E-Bike Creation

GREG LEMOND’S

EBIKE SOLUTION

He was a two-time road racing world champion, the one and only American credited with winning the Tour de France—not once but three times! He pioneered the use of carbon frames in the world of pro-road racing. And for all that, most recently, he was the recipient of a Congressional Medal of Honor. That in a very small nutshell is who Greg LeMond is.

The last time we ran into Greg was at the 2019 Eurobike show when he was excitedly running through the aisles checking out all the latest e-bikes. When we asked him what he was up to, he just told us to be patient and that news would be coming.

Well, many months later, we finally got the call—the bike was ready for us to take a look at. And we have to say, the takeaway was impressive. For 2021, Greg’s re-entry into the bike industry will be led out by two different Class 1 city bikes, each powered by an Ebikemotion rear hub motor, but also with unique features.

The bike we saw was the Prolog, and like the Dutch, it’s based on a carbon fiber frame with distinctive styling. Of the two, the Prolog is the more sport-oriented and rolls on 700c wheels with a 1x Shimano GRX drivetrain. We like the carbon fenders and one-piece handlebar/stem combo with integrated lighting. Available in three colors (with its metallic sheen, this rosa color is exceptional), the 26-pound bike will sell for $4500. Welcome
back, Greg!
