At $1599, the Level is affordable and comes in both a standard and a low-step-through frame. It doesn’t have a torque sensor, so you have to control your top speed with the mode button, but it does go up to 28 mph on pedal assist in the top mode (and 20 mph on the throttle). It’s powered by a 72-volt, 500-watt brush-less rear-hub motor and a 672-Wh integrated battery, which it actually goes through more quickly than if it were a 48-volt system, for an honest range of 40 miles.

We think the Aventon is a good-looking bike, and few, if any, bikes at this price range have anywhere near its build quality or ride quality. We rode one with a suspension seatpost, and it made for an even nicer ride.

You get a carbon fiber frame and fork, a Gen 4 Bosch Performance Line Speed motor (28 mph, Class 3), a 625-Wh Bosch Powertube battery and a Cobi display, which is unique in that you can use its simple display, or it becomes a holder for your smartphone that becomes your display through the Cobi.Bike app. Cobi’s app is only for Bosch, and the Allant+ is the only bike we’ve ever used it on. The claimed range is “up to 75 miles,” which means that you should easily get 50 miles.
