Bosch’s New Automated ‘eMTB Mode’ Takes Trail Riding to Next Level

Bosch is rolling out an update for the Performance Line CX motor and it sounds pretty cool! They’re replacing the “Sport” mode with a variable mode that automatically changes between assistance modes depending on pedal pressure for optimal support on different types of terrain. So, instead of reading “Sport”, it will read “eMTB”, which is sort of like an automatic transmission. It takes the torque sensor readings and can automatically toggle between Tour (120% added power), Sport (210% added power) and Turbo (300% added power).

The idea is to allow riders to concentrate more on the ride and less on the need to shift or even toggle the power up or down. The update will be available for all CX motor-powered bikes via your local dealer on July 1. We’re hoping to try one soon and report back.

Bosch has even posted a video to show it off a little.
