Troy Lee has teamed up with Bosch to promote the first eMTB race series, called The Boogaloo. The first race will be held Saturday, September 16 at Mammoth Mountain during the Kamikaze Bike Games. Signups have already started and they’re looking for more riders to participate.
The race event will be held on a course near the Canyon Lodge at Mammoth Mountain’s Bike Park specifically designed for eMTB racers. Expect near vertical ascents, killer drops, obstacles, berms, and more that will take you and your eMTB to the limits of what you thought possible on two wheels.
Class 1 eMTB is a specific classification for sustainable use on any trail, path or riding area. Class 1 eMTB models are defined as “a bicycle with fully operable pedals, and an electric motor under 750 Watts peak power that must be pedaled to activate the motor and that ceases to provide power above 20 mph”. All eMTB’s used in this event must pass technical inspection prior to race start. The race director reserves the right to prohibit any eMTBs from entering the race that, under their sole judgment, do not meet the eMTB Class 1 requirement.
Race format for the Amateur class will be a field of 32 riders competing in four heats of eight racers with the fastest four riders out of each heat advancing into a Main Event. Race entry includes: use of eMTB (all racers required to ride provided bikes from Specialized, Haibike, Raleigh Electric and Bulls Bikes), TLD Helmet, Signature Race Plate, Front Fender, Race Bib and event t-shirt. Awards for top five finishers will include trophies and a Bosch power drill!.
