BIANCHI NEW LINE OF E-BIKES
As the world’s oldest bike brand still pumping out bikes, Bianchi has definitely enjoyed their fair share of head-turning bikes over the last 138 years. For 2020 they’ve upped their e-bike program in a big way with a broad line of models in a variety of styles (17 in total), all of which sit under the banner of a new electric mobility project that the venerable Italian brand calls Lif-e.
“This is a meaningful and exciting moment for Bianchi,” said CEO Fabrizio Scalzotto. “Bianchi Lif-e is not just a new e-bike range that sets our new positioning in the pedal-assisted market. It is a new life philosophy involving alternative mobility, new trends, health, innovation and wellness.”
The top-of-the-line range is their eye-catching trio of mountain bikes that Bianchi has dubbed “e-SUV,” which feature carbon frames that have edgy frame shapes inspired by the unique shape of the Dolomites to inspire a connection between nature and technology. In addition to the aesthetics, the frames have an asymmetrical swingarm to increase tire clearance and prevent chain slap.
Attention to riders’ safety and well-being is key to the Bianchi Lif-e project. With this in mind, they have designed the new e-SUV with integrated front, side and rear LED lights for improved visibility during night time riding and daily commuting.
Bianchi’s e-SUV family consists of three unique carbon models—Racer, Rally and Adventure—all powered by a Shimano E8000 drive unit and 720-Wh battery integrated into the frame.
As the name implies, this is the most pared-down e-SUV of the three and features 150mm rear/160mm front travel, 29×2.6 wheel size and a Shimano XTR 1x12speed groupset.
A fully accessorized e-SUV bike with integrated lights and mudguards for day and night rides, featuring 150mm both rear and front travel, staggered wheel sizes with a 27. 5-inch rear and 29-inch front, and a Shimano XTR 1×12 drivetrain. The Bianchi e-SUV Rally is powered by an additional light with 1100 lumens and 200-meter beam distance.
This model features the same 150mm front and rear travel, and staggered wheel sizes as the Rally, but uses a SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain. The Adventure model is equipped with an integrated front, side and rear lights. All three models come in size M, L and XL.
T-Tronik Performer is the flagship e-MTB from Bianchi. The full suspension bike starts with a carbon frame, with a 630-Wh enhanced battery to help minimize range anxiety with a Shimano Steps E8000 motor. The Performer uses a Flip Chip to adjust bottom bracket height and alter the geometry.
The T-Tronik Rebel also features the 630-Wh battery, aluminum full-suspension frame, and uses Bianchi’s own e-MTB-tuned Bianchi motor unit.
T-Tronik Sport is aimed at the beginner rider and uses Bianchi’s own Italian-made motor unit with five different output levels that range from 50–400 percent in additional assist.
