3 Minutes To Charge A Solid-State Battery?

3 Mins To Charge?

Harvard’s Office of Technology Development has granted a license to startup Adden Energy to commercialize a prototype solid-state battery that can reportedly be charged in three minutes and has a lifespan of 10,000 cycles.

The battery is said to have a level of material stability that overcomes the safety issues often associated with lithium batteries. The technology has the potential to significantly increase the lifespan of electric vehicle batteries, which is an important factor in making them more widely accessible.

Adden Energy has received funding from Primavera Capital, Rhapsody Venture Partners, and MassVentures in a seed round that raised $5.15 million. The technology was developed in the lab of Xin Li, a professor at Harvard’s John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and a scientific advisor to Adden Energy.
